In 2002, I started providing home loans in Austin, Texas and later received the “Rookie of the Year” award at Security Lending.
In the following years, my tenacious commitment to Austin home buyers and “never say die” determination has earned me national awards and recognition, e.g. First Continental Mortgage’s “Presidents Club Award for Volume” in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. I reached “Presidents Club” status for 2009 in August. In addition, I received “Top Producer in the Nation for Volume and Units” in 2008. The awards are nice, but they boil down to this … I’ve closed over 1,000 home loans for central Texas families equaling almost 200 million dollars, but more importantly, a lot of happy Austin homeowners.
Now with UrbanAustin Mortgage, and with more programs and tools at my disposal, I make home loans happen for Austin, Texas citizens. I am the Preferred Lender for The Village on Congress, a progressive mixed use condo/retail development in south Austin. I am also a Preferred Lender for urbanspace Realtors — Austin’s leading downtown real estate firm with a focus on high-end residential, commercial and mixed-use spaces.
I was born and raised here in Austin, Texas and hail from a family of real estate professionals. My dad, Dan Steakley, has worked in the Austin real estate industry for over 30 years in various capacities and is now a commercial real estate broker, and my mother once built beautiful homes in the Westlake area. My brother, Will Steakley, is a successful agent and VP at urbanspace Realtors and my father-in-law, Bill Stringer, has been a successful Austin, Texas commercial real estate broker since the mid ’70s.
In addition to providing Austin, Texas home loans for clients, I co-chair the La Pasadita BBQ Team. This Austin, Texas team exists solely for the purpose of raising money for The Star of Texas Scholarship Program, which has awarded more than $4.2 million in college scholarships since 1983. In 2008, La Pasadita celebrated crossing the half-a-million-donated mark since its founding in 1991, and the last few years have seen the team consistently raise over $50,000 each year. When I’m not closing Austin, Texas home loans, you can find me outside — boating on Lake Austin or Lake Travis, playing golf, hunting and fishing all over Texas or enjoying a cold one at an outdoor concert.
